Building

Creating shelters has always required resources and energy. Initially they were of local materials but later materials were either moved from or created elsewhere which increased the embodied energy of the shelter. A sustainable building is one that minimises the embodied energy of the structure.
Buildings also have maintenace as well as heating and cooling requirements. A sustainable building tries to minamize the embodied energy acquired from maintenace as well as heaing and cooling.
